My Mechanical Bell


What it was:
    This was a mechanical bell that I made, where when you press the button, the bell rings.

    I started out by studying a real bell from a card game and seeing how it works. I found out that the button was on a spring and when the button is pressed it hits an L-shaped piece of metal with the clapper of the bell on it. The piece of metal then flips and the clapper of the bell hits the inside of the frame.

How I built my bell:
    My bell was a simple bucket with a metal plate in the inside for the clapper to hit. The clapper was a marble, taped to a piece of cardboard which was suspented by a pipe-cleaner. I had a spring and expieremented with many skrews to see which one would be the best for the job. the head or the screw had to be big enough in diameter to fit over the spring, and the legnth of the screw had to be long enuogh to hit the clapper. Finnally I used some cardboard to cover the top.

                          What it was used for:      The Egyptian Bag press is what the Ancient Egyptians used to make wine. They would sqeeze fresh grapes and then ferment the juice to make wine. It was like an ancient juicer. I built a bag press, to replicate what it was like to squeeze fruit during the ancient times. The building process:     First I built the frame by making a u-shape with three pieces of wood. My Ping-Pong Ball Ramp

What it was:      This was my ball ramp that I made for a ping-pong ball. It was made out of straws that were hot-glued together. It even included a ball elevator to bring the ball back up to the top. Parts of the machine: The stabilizing pillars These pillars were straws that were hot-glued on the bottom of the cardboard base. They helped hold up the frame. The ramp frame The ramp frame was also made out of straws and hot glue, there were to rails that could hold up the ball. The elevator The elevator was made from three parts, the cabin, the rope, and the stick which the rope was winded on. The elevator cabin was chair-shaped so that when the ball rolled into the chair, the rope pulled the top of the chair up. The rope was winded around the skewer that was pierced through two pieces of straw and twisted through it.
